The Royal Flying Doctor Service needs you!!!

As most of you know, I like bikes. No not the ones with engines the ones with pedals.
Anyway I digress, at the start of October I am riding across the Simpson desert, 600km of sand at 40 degrees for 5 days. This ain't no walk through the city to a sunny beach
Why? I hear you ask.
Stupidity?
Am I on Drugs?
A drunken bet?
It's actually none of the above. I am doing it to raise money for equipment for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Lisdale Successess
While NoBMoB is all about social riding (as displayed by all the jolly fun on Saturday) there seems to be an ever increasing rogue element of really rather good (dare I even say, professional) riders in our midst.
Yesterday at Lisdale NoBMoB seemed to be involved in two first place positions and another two podiums. We even got a shout from the Aussie champ (pictured here on her way to winning Solo vets by a lap) as part of her acceptance speech. The very hastily put together (and named) team 'Beth Beth' (Erm... Beth accompanied by Junkie - yes, she did most laps!) stormed home in first place mixed pairs.
Other podiums were grabbed by three old buggers (Steve01, Dylan & Lord Carlgroover) second in threes masters as Alex, Supagav & Scott scored second in the threes mixed. Reckon that 'mixed' thing might be a misprint on the results?
Awesome work everyone. And all the social riders out there need not be scared - there are now so many of us buggers that someone has to come out smelling of roses sometimes!
Nationals Report
Here is some up date..
After a horrible night in the rain ...we got up to a clearing sky.
The track was was damp with a few puddles, this makes for a very different track to the Scott24. Well Vanina was in the first group of races for the morning. After bit of a rushed start with been very disorganised (rider that is) they were off and racing. Vet woman which Vanina was racing did 3 laps of a 7.5km ish course. V Finished In FIRST place over a minute clear of second.
NoBMoB now has an Australian Champ as part of the Group!!!! YEAH!!!!
Both Alex and myself will race at 8.30am tomorrow. We will update once we finish tomorrow.
The racing is bloody good to watch. Looking forward to the 4X tonight.
Over and out!
NoBMoB Doing It For MS
On the 2nd of November a few members of NoBMoB will be riding in the MS Sydney to the Gong, a charity ride for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which is a disease of the central nervous system affecting more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition.
As Harry pointed out, http://nobmob.com/node/5739, (if you cant see the ride event, you'll need to subscribe to the Scummers group here: http://nobmob.com/node/5665) it would be a good idea to have a NoBMoB team set up so anybody wishing to ride under the NoBMoB banner, can. This also enables anyone who would like to donate to MS Australia, can do so through the NoBMoB team website.
The team website is http://register.gongride.org.au/?NoBMoB

24 Hour Results
In case you didn't know, this weekend saw the 24 Hour Solo Champs, in which three gallant riders were listed.
Huge congratulations to Carlgroover who placed 12th overall and 2nd in his category with 35 laps in 24h33m. I don't know how you do it!
Damien has a DNF with 20 laps in 21h13m - don't know what happened here, but that doesn't look anything to be ashamed of!
Reading from MTB-OZ seems the Egg injured his legs and must be feeling pretty disappointed after doing 18 laps in 10h47m. The Spoon (who isn't on here but is a local lad deserving of support) sounds to have had some trouble...
Coffs - downhill fun at Mt Coramba on Saturday and Monday
Thanks Rob for the write up of the Sunday race. You seem to have most points covered, at least from what you saw. Nice work hacking on Bruce too. But you did well Bruce - a top time given our poor preparation.
After an enjoyable road trip from Sydney to Coffs, many of the group decide that the Mt Coramba downhill trail is a capital idea, given we are racing the next day. New trails!! Preparation? What preparation. To illustrate, Steve and Gazza had turned up earlier in the day and had been hike-a-biking up steep hills (err, mountains?) because they couldn't find the proper tracks. More good work! Oh Gaz, you would come to regret this!
To describe the location of this place, the road turn off for Mt Coramba is about 1km north of the big banana. You drive along a tight and twisty road high up towards the top of a mountain, that ends with a picture perfect and stunning view of the surrounding area. This includes a 180 degree view of the pacific ocean. If we weren't so keen to get riding, you could look at the view for hours. The landscape is steep, with a mix of Eucalypts and rainforest. Very different to what we are used to on the northern beaches.
Careflight Classic Anyone?
I was talking with a friend about last weekend's speed run down The Oaks and he suggested we might like to do the Careflight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic.
Now - in the past I've said, "Bloody hell - $35 to ride down a trail I can do anytime!". But, since then have attended a few events and realise that the fun of the day is something not to be missed. I've also seen people flown off even fire trail - and anyone that saw Sunday's 60 Minutes story about Boy Wonder will realise what a critical role choppers funded by these sorts of events play.
The actual route is from Woodford station to Euroka near Glenbrook, and it's scheduled for Sunday June 24.
Anyone want to make a team (no limit on numbers, first two home decide the team time)? Or just go solo?
Entry forms are here for those who are tempted.
Dirtworks Classic
For those who may have forgotten or chosen to forget, registrations for the Dirtworks Classic are now open.
